BC Cancer Foundation's Westside Cycling Classic brings two exciting cycling events together for a fun and action-packed day of riding for both recreational and competitive cyclists.
In the morning of Sunday, June 1st, top amateur cyclists will compete in the Provincial Road Race Championships to determine Junior, Senior and Master Champions.

That afternoon, registered community riders have the opportunity to ride with Axel Merckx, Olympic cycling medalist and former Belgian National Champion, Vancouver Canucks hockey legend Trevor Linden and Alex Steida, the first North American to wear the coveted Yellow Jersey at the Tour de France in a fun, family, fundraising ride to support cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency.

And with the start/finish line at West 10th and Sasamat, Point Grey Village is in the heart of the action!

Chip’s Not Dead Yet Memorial Mile

Friday, June 20th, 6pm to 9pm
West 10th Avenue

Think of this as part run, walk, parade and party. The goal is to participate, celebrate life and raise money for BC Children's Hospital.

So, on Friday evening, June 20th, 2008, participants will amass at Alma and West 10th Avenue, and summit the hill, one mile exactly to the top. Along the way, thousands of excited viewers are expected to cheer runners on. Drummers and cheerleaders will also help motivate. After the final $20,000 winner takes all, everyone will make their way to West 10th Avenue between Sasamat and Tolmie for more festivities. There will be rides for the kids, food and beverage tents, and live entertainment.
